The Year 12 ATAR Chemistry students have been learning about polymers and their diverse uses. They recently examined Polymer Resin Identification Codes on common household items and completed a practical activity to make nylon.

A select group of Year 10 students, along with all Year 11 and 12 ATAR Chemistry students, also attended an incursion where Dr David Morrison presented Polymers, 3D Printing and Innovation in Healthcare. David, who works at Royal Perth Hospital, discussed the use of selected polymers in surgery, including applications for workplace-related skull injuries, birth defects such as Binder syndrome and scoliosis.

His talk provided valuable insight into the career and study pathways Chemistry can offer. We thank David for his inspiring visit and for sharing his expertise.
