The Year 12 General Geography students took their learning into the field with an excursion to the Swan Valley as part of their study of globalisation and the geography of wine.

Through visits to Olive Farm Wines, the House of Honey and Mandoon Estate, students took part in educational sessions with winemakers, grape growers and cellar door staff, gaining insights into the Swan Valley’s wine and mead industry, including viticulture, tourism, and connections to global markets. Students also explored the role of emerging technologies in wine production and distribution, as well as the social, economic and environmental implications of the industry. They gained an understanding of how government regulations influence wine businesses, while seeing how concepts studied in class apply to real-world contexts.
