The Year 7 English students recently stepped into the world of Shakespeare through a hands-on workshop as part of the Bell Shakespeare Artist in Residence program.
Working with a professional visiting artist, students explored their Term 3 text, A Midsummer Nightβs Dream, through movement, performance and improvisation. Bringing scenes to life gave students a fun and engaging way to explore the characters, story and themes of Shakespeareβs classic play.
One student said that they found the learning both enjoyable and meaningful, describing it as βgood fun making up scenes with your matesβ and a great way to gain a better understanding of what happens in the play. Students reflected on how the experience helped bring the story to life.
A fantastic opportunity for our Year 7 students to experience Shakespeare rather than simply read it, building confidence, creativity and a deeper understanding of their text.
