The Arts and Crafts Club is using their crochet skills to support the local community by creating handmade goods for those in need. Through their Crochet4aCause initiative, students are donating their beautifully crafted items to help others in the community!
Year 9 students recently had the opportunity to participate in a career taster in hospitality called ‘Pretty Little Cakes’ where students were able to learn how to use specialised patisserie equipment and a range of different finishing techniques. The students baked and decorated four cupcakes using a variety of decorations to take home.
Aveley Secondary College has amazing hospitality facilities on campus, providing students with the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised qualification of a Certificate II in Hospitality.
Year 11 students took on the teachers in a thrilling volleyball tournament! It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get involved, have some fun, and enjoy a bit of healthy competition outside the classroom.
The teachers won the first match, but the students came back strong to win the second 25-23. The atmosphere was full of energy, and everyone had a blast!
Congratulations to our WorldSkills Western Australia winners who attended a breakfast presentation at Crown! The gold medallists are now part of the WA training squad from which the state representatives will be selected to compete against other VETiS winners from all over the country in Brisbane next June.
Students with possible interests in a future career in the healthcare industry had the opportunity to attend a 1-day Career Taster Excursion at North Metro TAFE in Mount Lawley.
They gained hands-on experience in activities like bed making, transporting patients, hover mats operating, first aid, bandaging, and treating snake bites.
The event highlighted various pathways into nursing, a high-demand field. For some, the experience confirmed their interest in healthcare, while for others, it clarified that the industry wasn’t the right fit—a valuable takeaway in itself.
Some of our students proudly represented ASC at the recently concluded Ellenbrook Multicultural Festival. Coming from diverse cultural backgrounds themselves, they volunteered as part of the youth committee where they planned and delivered engaging activities such as African drumming, ‘Guess the Flag,’ and Henna tattoos.
Their dedication and enthusiasm showcased leadership, teamwork, and a commitment to fostering cultural understanding. These efforts highlighted the importance of community engagement and reflected the school’s values in action.

Our Year 9 students recently attended a TAFE Career Taster, diving into the world of special effects makeup! They learned hands-on techniques for creating realistic wounds and bruises, giving them a glimpse into the artistry behind film and television effects.
To complete the experience, they participated in a professional-style photoshoot where their work was showcased, with each student transforming their images into a magazine cover—a fantastic keepsake from an exciting day of learning and creativity!
The Year 7-9 AEP students took part in the state-wide Economics Creative Competition in Term 2 earlier this year, organised by the ETAWA Economics Teachers Association of Western Australia.
Their task was to conduct research and create an informative Economic poster based on the current economic climate in Australia, focusing on economic events from 2022 to 2024.
Aveley students, Parneet Dhaliwal won first prize in the Year 7 division and Kylie Raath (Year 8 ) and Sienna Taylor (Year 9) were both runner ups in their divisions. Congratulations to all students who participated!
108 of our Year 7-10 girls were given the opportunity to attend two sessions run by The Innovators’ Tea Party, an organisation that promotes women in STEM fields.
Throughout the sessions, students listened to insightful talk and also had the chance to engage with these trailblazing women through Q&A, allowing them to gain first-hand knowledge about career pathways, challenges, and opportunities in STEM.
Year 9 students who expressed an interest in exploring the metal fabrication industry were provided the opportunity to attend the Midland TAFE Fabrication workshop to speak with lecturers about careers and the future pathways in the industry.
Students also spent the day engaging in a small metal fabrication project using the latest welding and polishing processes which they were able to take home. We hope the students feel more prepared to make informed decisions about their careers as they move into Senior School next year.
