New Staff: Rebecca Gipson
Aveley Secondary College is pleased to introduce Rebecca Gipson, our new Program Coordinator in the Education Support Hub.
My name is Rebecca Gipson and I am thrilled to be joining Aveley Secondary College in the Education Support Hub as a Program Coordinator. I have had an extensive teaching career in Education Support schools and centres. The last 18 years I worked at Dianella Secondary College Education Support Centre as a teacher and administrator. I have a particular interest in person-centred planning and working with senior school students and their families to develop meaningful and achievable transition pathways from school to adult life. I am really looking forward to working with the Aveley Secondary College staff, students, families, and relevant agencies to develop positive partnerships to enable our Education Support students to reach their potential and achieve their goals.

Term 4 Academies
Our Term 4 academies commenced this week and our students have already made some great progress. The Drawing Through Wire academy students have started their artworks and we’re sure if the first week is anything to go by, they are going to produce lots of amazing work for the Arts festival. We can’t wait to share the work with you.
Just a reminder academy enrolments close Friday 30 October. The following academies still have places available: Drawing Through Wire, Media, Music and Taiko Japanese Drumming.
Cyber Safety Seminar
Last week Aveley Secondary College hosted a Cyber Safety Seminar. We were very pleased to see the number of parents that came to hear guest speaker Paul Litherland from Surf Online Safe discuss the risks students face online and ways they can increase their internet awareness to mitigate the risks.
Students were also given the opportunity to hear Paul Litherland speak and the feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, we believe our students have learned a lot about how to protect themselves online and we hope they continue to use this knowledge in the future.
Breakfast club
Breakfast club will recommence on Wednesdays from 7.30am-8.15am this week in the Cafe. All students are welcome to come and make their own breakfast and start their day off in a fun and inviting environment supported by our Student Services Support Workers and staff.
Regularly enjoying breakfast improves student’s memory, concentration, energy levels and supports their overall wellbeing.
