Aveley Secondary College's Instrumental Music School Services Program (IMSS) is available to all. Instrumental Music offers students opportunities to develop musical skills, appreciation and expression, as well as opportunities for diverse community involvement. Students who apply are selected based on the results of an aptitude test, interest in learning a musical instrument, parent commitment and support, and physical suitability to play their selected musical instrument.
Research shows there are many benefits to learning a musical instrument, including helping children develop and mature as well as improve their self-esteem and respect for others. Music may also help children in other areas of school as they develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It brings a balance to the curriculum.
Applications for Year 7 2027 have now closed. Applicants will be contacted in due course regarding the next steps and to advise whether their application has been successful.
